Stability issues with PCs fitted with new NVidia RTX3070 and RTX3080 graphics cards - its a BIOS issue after all
Many customers have reported stability issues with systems fitted with the new RTX 30 generation of graphic cards. This issue is widespread and has been reported by many people on forums worldwide and is not something isolated to PCs made by Punch Technology.
There has been much speculation about general issues with the GPU cards, problems with power supplies etc but the problems seem to occur regardless of the brand of GPU, brand and wattage of the PSU and brand and type of the motherboard used. Problems also occur at random times and not necessarily when the GPU is under load. Often it can happen when the PC is idle.
After a fair bit of head scratching, this issue seems to come down to the way the motherboard interfaces with the GPU and motherboard vendors have been scrambling to release new BIOS revisions for their motherboards which fix the issue.
As with all new technology, there seems to be some teething trouble but the fix is out there or coming very soon for your motherboard. We recommend all our customers with early manufactured PCs built with RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 to visit our support pages to check for new BIOS releases for your motherboard and follow the instructions provided for performing the update.
If you don't have a Punch Technology PC, please don't download our custom BIOS as these are customised for our PCs. Instead, you should visit the support page of your motherboard vendor and download the BIOS file from their website.
