How to Initialise and Format a Hard Drive in Windows

Part 1: Initialize Disk

Step 1: Right click on Start button and select "Disk Management"

Step 2: Right Click on the disk you wish to initialize which will be labelled "Not Initialised" in the pop-up menu, select "Initialize Disk"

Step 3: Select "OK" when the "Initialise Disk" Dialogue box appears.

Part 2: Format Disk:

Step 4: Right click on the "Unallocated" space and select "New Simple Volume".

Step 5: Press "Next" to accept all the default options, then press "Finish" to complete the formatting process.

Step 6: Check your drives folder, your disk should appear.
